THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The GT Asia Challenge (formerly the Asian Supercar Challenge), was established in 2003 by the Supercar Club Hong Kong (SCCHK). At the beginning of 2008, the SCCHK and Motorsport Asia Limited reached an agreement to jointly organize the Asia Supercar Challenge to further increase the levels of professionalism and worldwide interest in the Championship.

In 2009, the series evolved to become the GT3 Asia Challenge and was held as part of the Asian Festival Of Speed, competing at four different circuits. Two rounds were held in Shanghai, two in Sepang, one in Sentul, followed by its first ever trip to Japan, at the Autopolis Circuit. The end of season invitational race was held at Asia’s oldest street circuit during the prestigious 56th Macau Grand Prix.

Fans are now able to catch the best production based Supercars in the world, competing in fast paced and action filled races at various circuits around Asia. Viewers in over 100 countries worldwide can also catch the GT Asia races on television through the AFOS TV programme.

The 2011 season is expected to take the series to the next level, combining GT3 Asia with the GT4 Asia Cup into a brand new and even more competitive Championship - GT Asia. The Series is scheduled to visit the Nations of Malaysia, Japan, and China before once again finishing at the historic 58th Macau Grand Prix.
