New bodykits for all the cars

schoolcarAfter an extensive rebuild, all Asia Racing Team’s Formula Renault “School cars” cars received a full update kit enhancing the overall performance and appearance of the car.

Although improving the performance was not the purpose of this change, the Formula Renault 2.0 with the new bodykit has also become more stable in the fast bends. The body designed by Tatuus in Italy was inspired by its “big sister”, the Formula Renault 3.5.

Intensive Courses are a success

frs11111Since the introduction, in August 2008, the Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsports’ Racing School Intensive Courses have been enjoying a vast success and more than 20 participants had the chance to take pleasure of the Formula Renault 2.0 driving sensations thanks to it.

“Due to the current difficulties to rent the circuit in exclusivity we decided to put together up this course specially designed to fit the Open Practice sessions of ZIC. That allowed us to open up many more slots for participants that would like to come and learn with us”, says ART Motorsports’ PR & Marketing Manager Sergio Fonseca.

Based in Zhuhai International Circuit, ART Racing School gives the opportunity to find out what it’s like to race an authentic racecar on a major racetrack. Our participants come from all over China, Macau and Hong Kong to enjoy a life-defining experience. They receive vital training from two top racing Asian instructors (Philippe Descombes and Rodolfo Avila), wear real racing suits and safety gear, and climb into the cockpit of a single seater that was once driven by one of the Asian racing greats.

ART Motorsports’ Driver Coach and Team Manager explains, “This concept has been proven a success. From companies’ executives to young karting drivers, we had a bit of everything here. During one day the participants enjoy a lot of track time and the Formula Renault gives you the ultimate in driving experiences. It makes you feel what it’s like to blend in the power and feel the G-Forces just like a real racing car driver”.

If you are looking forward to participate in one of ART Racing School’s Intensive Courses, don’t hesitate to contact us by e-mail art@art-motorsports.com or telephone (+86) 756 339 48 11.

2008 Ends with youth success

Hours before the Christmas Eve, 17 years old Tiago Pablo was the latest participant to successfully accomplish a Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsports’ Racing School Intensive Course in 2008.

Without any previous racing experience whatsoever, the young Portuguese from Macau didn’t take long to adapt to the Formula Renault 2.0 driving style, and gradually improved, building up his confidence levels and resulting in lower lap times.

Commenting on the Tiago’s performance, Team Manager Philippe Descombes said, “We are delighted to be able to give Tiago the opportunity to test a racing car for the first time. We were not looking for times but I must say he did pretty well for a beginner. Despite the two spins in the last session, the day was perfect. It is always thrilling to have young drivers on board and give them their first step up in the sport”.

Macanese ART Driver Coach Rodolfo Avila, who could not attend to his countryman course, added “I am very proud to see that there is interest in the sport among the young Macanese people. ART not only intend to do the races but wants to create more drivers involved in motor racing by offering them a chance to properly get in a racing car”.

If you desire to get an idea what racing is like, to improve your performance for racing, to be safer on the road, or to drive some racing cars just to have some fun, don’t hesitate to contact us to know further details of Asia Racing Team’s courses.

See you all in 2009…

Sunshine after the storm

On the 6th of August, Zhuhai was buffeted by gale force winds as typhoon Nuri churned toward the southern coast of Guangdong province, with most of the Zhuhai city and its markets shut down ahead of a direct hit by its worst typhoon in five years. Due to the weather conditions, and in the spirit of safety, the Zhuhai International Circuit has decided to close the track and Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsports Racing School has decided to postpone the 2-days Basic Course.

… one month and half later …

On the 29th and 30th of September, under the expert tuition of Macau GP Formula Asia double winner Philippe Descombes, seven motor racing enthusiasts who enjoy warm sunshine and high performance driving took in the best of both worlds through the top Asian Formula Renault Racing School.

Without any accident to report, Eldon Cheng, Samuel Hsieh, Simon Yeung, Dave Wong, Sérgio Quadrelli, the first Brazilian to participate in the course, and the HTCC N2000-class drivers Peter Tsang and Helen Cai have accomplished with success the third 2-days Basic course of 2008.

The group left Zhuhai having in mind what they achieved. No doubt about it, they are all better drivers now because of their experience. Better street drivers who have a new found respect for the “limit” and better racing track drivers who have a new found respect for just how hard it is to turn competitive times on a race track.
