Li Sicheng and Jack Pang powered the No. 2 银桥ACM by Blackjack Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO to a dominant victory in the GTC class during the opening race of the revitalised China GT Championship weekend at Zhuhai International Circuit.
At Zhuhai International Circuit — China’s first permanent motorsport facility, inaugurated in 1996 — the Blackjack Racing-run Lamborghini returned to action, proudly displaying its striking new “The Spring Water” livery for the second consecutive event, looking even more impressive than before.
On Saturday morning, Jack Pang and Li Sicheng delivered a strong performance by topping both GTC/GTS qualifying sessions. Conditions were far from ideal, with rain appearing for five minutes during Q1 and persisting throughout Q2. Despite the added challenge, both drivers rose to the occasion, maintaining composure and delivering flawless laps without compromise.
Later in the day, the opening race of the weekend took place under unpredictable track conditions – a true lottery for teams and drivers. Although the race began to dry, the surface remained tricky throughout. Demonstrating calm and consistency, Li Sicheng steadily guided the No. 2 银桥ACM by Blackjack Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO through the field, overtaking several GT3-spec cars in the process.
The team’s strategy proved flawless, with a well-timed tyre change that allowed the car to become one of the fastest on track in the second half of the race. Unfortunately, as Jack Pang was pushing hard and closing in on an overall podium finish, he spun at Turn 14 on the penultimate lap. Thankfully, the incident caused no damage and did not prevent the team from securing another superb GTC class victory.
The second race at the Guangdong Province circuit took place on Sunday afternoon, and at last, the sun decided to make an appearance. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side – an off-track excursion at the challenging Turn 6 left the ‘bull’ beached in the gravel on lap 13.
Driver and Team Principal Jack Pang said: “It’s been an emotional rollercoaster this weekend. The team and my co-driver did an amazing job on Saturday, handing me the car in a great position. Sadly, our race ended just one lap short of P2 overall due to my mistake.
Sunday’s race was a tough reminder of the risks in motorsport. I faced some medical challenges before getting in the car and wasn’t able to keep going until the pit stop window. We’ll regroup and come back stronger for the next race.”
Li Sicheng added: “Overall, it was a challenging weekend, but we did manage to do well on Saturday. After seeing Jack’s spin on Sunday, I think he’s lucky not to have had a massive shunt. Zhuhai is a circuit with a lot of hidden dangers – the spot where he spun has previously seen a serious accident that left a driver paralysed, so I’m just glad he was okay.”
The next China GT Championship round is scheduled for September 21-22 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
