Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) arrives in China at the Shanghai International Circuit for its final home soil encounter of 2024, taking place from September 13-15.
Returning to the PRO ranks in Shanghai is Peter Li Zhi Cong with Blackjack Racing. Li competed in the opening rounds of the season in Malaysia, achieving an impressive fourth-place finish in race one after securing pole position in wet conditions.
The Chinese driver hasn’t driven the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2 since May, but he has stayed busy. Just two weeks ago, Li Zhi Cong celebrated a spectacular double victory with Blackjack Racing during the thrilling F4 Chinese Challenge race weekend, part of the 4th China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Festival, held at the FIA Grade III 3.163 km Daqing Racing Town Circuit in China.
“It’s a pleasure to work with the team again this weekend. It’s been a long time since I last raced here in Shanghai. I will be driving alone this weekend, so there’s a 3-second time penalty for the compulsory pit stop that I’ll have to overcome. The target is to minimize the time lost and do my best. I hope to have a clean race weekend and enjoy my time in this championship,” Li Zhi Cong said.
Team Principal Jack Pang added, “It is a pleasure to welcome Peter back to the team once again. He performed exceptionally well during his series debut in Sepang last May, and we’re hopeful he can achieve even more this weekend in Shanghai. As a Chinese team, we are thrilled to be returning to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Evo 2 field for the Chinese race on the calendar, and we will give our all to ensure a successful race weekend.”
The weekend at the Hermann Tilke-designed home of the Chinese F1 Grand Prix kicks off with two one-hour free practice sessions on Friday, September 13. The two 15-minute qualifying sessions to set the grids for each race begin at 11:00 the following day, with the first race starting at 15:55. The final Asian race of the 2024 LSTA season will begin at 14:00 on Sunday.
